The Most Useless, Pointless And Every Other 'Less' Story I Have Ever Read
June 16th 2008 02:07
I had no idea the BBC could be this utterly irrelevant:
Bush compliments Sarkozy on wife
US President George Bush has complimented his French counterpart Nicolas Sarkozy on his choice of wife, on the latest leg of his European tour.
Mr Bush heaped praise on French first lady Carla Bruni, describing her as "a really smart, capable woman".
"I can see why you married her," he told the French president in Paris.
French-US policy differences over Iraq took a back seat as the men exchanged banter on what is seen as Mr Bush's farewell European tour.
Oh how cute. Bush took time out from discussing important stuff like all the people dying in Iraq and all the people he wants to kill in Iran to congratulate Sarkozy on his trophy wife. World class journalism. My thirst for knowledge is satiated. Thanks for sharing this BBC, I feel so informed now.
But that's not all ladies and gents, Bush-get this-referred "to Mr Sarkozy by his first name", holy moly. His first name. They must be like best friends or something right? Well according to the BBC, "Mr Bush recalled that 'America's first friend was France', helping win independence from Britain."
That's nice. First friends. Let's praise France for something it did two hundred odd years ago. Talk about trying to dig up a compliment out of nowhere. Obviously the whole Iraq-War-with-us-or-against-u s-refusal-to-join-the-Coaliti on-of-the-Willing-French-wine -poured-down-the-sink
fiasco is but a distant memory. Alls right with the world again as Bush bids au revoir to Europe.
Laugh it up boys, the world is your oyster.
Honestly, I think I lost a million brain cells just reading that article. If anyone else sees a point to it, can you please tell me what it is?

Meanwhile, Bush is doing his wind-down tour of Europe. "Yep, it was good while it lasted. Luckily, I've got investments in defense, and I've ensured that the US will be reliant on military spending for years to come!"
