Lady Sovereign is one feisty little rapper from the UK. Born in 1985, she was just 21 went she released this song as a response to her many critics in the British hip hop scene, where she holds a unique place as the only white female MC (though not the only female), in the genre known as Grime. The criticism levelled at her is due primarily to her whiteness as opposed to her gender and she is attacked as "unauthentic", despite the fact that she actually grew up on a rough council estate (Chalk Hill) , as many other black grime artists.
Lady Sovereign uses this song to counter criticism of her style and appearance (best described as tomboy-ish), and her talent. Sash Frere Jones, the music writer for the New Yorker described her thus: "good: pithy, clever, and able to use her honking voice to humorous effect."
Now that's my kind of woman! One who is witty and strong enough in her own esteem to recognise that what others think of her is not the be all and all. She knows who she is, she knows she has got talent in spades and you can either join her for this amazing ride or you can go listen to something else.
The choice is yours.

Hey Morgan, actually comparing her to Sporty Spice is one of the things her detractors do to try and put her down. But she don't care...
