Needless Slaughter of Mountain Gorillas in the Congo: Another Feather in Humanity's Cap

Not much to say here. I think this article from MSNBC speaks for itself, as does this picture:
Good job to whomever cares to take the credit for this deed. You've managed to commit an act so atrocious, repugnant and devoid of sense that I'm left nearly speechless. Not an easy feat.

They are such intelligent beasts, I have nothing to say about this either.

This is incredibly sad, man's inhumanity to beast. The beast here demonstrates its superiority, having been found in a defenceless position by the 'human' who perpetrated this atrocity.
No doubt the people responsible were cowards. Let's see them engage in an even contest.
They'd run like curs.
I, too, am speechless and sad. May rough justice punish these people for their deeds.

Small Thoughts on Big Questions
Apes are so obviously intelligent, I can't imagine anyone thinking of them in the same vein as a cow or a squirrel. I could no sooner kill a gorilla unprovoked than I could kill a person. Even worse, their population teeters on collapse. Their population numbers are so terribly low not because nature is selecting them for failure, but because of the actions of humankind. We (humans) already have a pretty large burden to carry for our numerous egregious acts over the course of our history. If we snuff out these creatures, the closest relative we have, we'll have another trinket to add to our bundle of shame.
Thanks for the comments, everyone. It's a sad thing to have to talk about.

This type of mindless atrocity makes me so angry, I want to give up blogging, and go to the Congo to do something about it. If I wans't so tied up with disproving Darwin's Theory of Evolution, I would.

Im with you buddy. I love animals but I still eat them. To hunt for something youre going to eat is a mystical connection with nature - to hunt for sport is just glorified murder.
