The Hilinator

June 4th 2008 22:18
It's over, right? Obama has secured the necessary delegates for the Democratic nomination. Great, done. On to the presidential elec........what the......

"Now, the question is: Where do we go from here? And given how far we've come and where we need to go as a party, it's a question I don't take lightly. This has been a long campaign, and I will be making no decisions tonight."

OH MY GOD, IT'S HILARY! She can't be stopped!! Run, Barack! Dear lord, RUUUUUUNNNNN!!!

............................. ...................

Whoo, that was close. But take that as a warning, Barack. Hilary Clinton* is out there. She can't be bargained with. She can't be reasoned with. She doesn't feel pity, or remorse, or fear. And she absolutely will not stop, ever, until you are out of the race.

*any similarities between Hilary Clinton and a killer robot from the future are entirely coincidental

Nooooooooo! Poor Hillary. Imagine how gutted she must be right now.

I'm glad the thing is over but I actually feel quite sad for her.

She probably has not conceded yet so they have time to discuss being running mates?

Dunno.

But I do think she deserves some massive respect for dealing with all the shit that was thrown her way.

Oh No!!! Actually, I feel like Ruby...glad it's over, but a little sad for her. Although I didn't like alot of her campaign tactics, I think that ultimately she would have been a better president than her husband was. Bad timing, Hillary! She is probably second guessing her decision not
run in 2004. She would have been a hell of alot better than Kerry! I think she is probably shocked a little too. I'm sure she felt it would be hers. She would easily get the nom, and trounce Bush. Then a phenomena called Barack Obama came along. Whatever happens, I think Bill has an ass kickin' comin'

I take it you mean McCain?

It's okay, I can barely tell the difference either.

well she can always run again in the future even if she is Vice President this time cant she?

Well if Obama loses then she will most likely get a shot in 2012 but if Obama wins he will go for reelection in four years which means she won't get a shot until 2016 but she'll be almost 70.

This was it for her I think.

I'm still feeling sad.

On a cheerier note have you checked out Dum Dum's latest comments? The Grand Inquisitor....sorry Winston, I know this is your post but I have been lazy this week and have not posted anything since monday and am using your comments section as a gossip chatroom....

Hi Ruby and Jeff. Call me heartless, but I don't really feel bad for her at all. I'm not a big fan of Hilary in particular, or of the Clintons in general.

I am relieved to see that she has now decided to end her presidential campaign this week. For a moment there I thought they'd have her challenging Obama to a fight in January during his inauguration.

Hi Morgan. I tend to think that Ruby is right, and that this was Hilary's last best shot at the Oval Office. Probably why she clung so hard to the last threads that continued to slip from her fingers.

Ruby, go ahead and gossip away. This post took about 2 minutes to put up, so it's not as if I have lot invested in discussing its various intricacies

oh Winston if you want some entertaining gossip you should check out the rudeness in the comments of this post: CLICKHERE

i saw Hillary and Obama praising each other today, saying how wonderful they thought each other was . . . i think she will definately run as his vice

plus have you heard people saying they expect him to be assassinated if he wins? terrible i know, but if the right really are that crazy then second in line could be an important position (it makes me sick to think about it, it goes against the whole idea of democracy and freedom)

He's already turned her down.

There is no way he will, the nice talk they make about each other is only normal of politicians.

I think he will go with Edwards to get the white working class vote.

really? (Ahmed)
really??? (Ruby)

i believe you both, im just astounded, i think she proved herself popular if nothing else, seems like a waste of potential votes to turn her down . . . oh well

i know its strange of me to be influenced by something S.L. said but do you think McCain holds more clout that we Australians could possibly understand because people respect his military history?

I think he will go with Edwards to get the white working class vote.

He also said he wouldn't run with Edwards -_-

McCain is going to lose, it is not a matter of if, it's a matter of when the damn elections are held.

It's like how poeple worried about Howard winning again against Rudd and he lost, people just aren't going to vote for another grumpy old man.

Has he really said no to both of them Ahmed? Who else is there? Michelle? haha

Morgan you do have a point about McCain and the miltary.

But then John Kerry was also in the military and Bush was one of those rich kids who got out of serving but somehow Fox News managed to twist it all around to make Bush the war hero.

Has he really said no to both of them Ahmed? Who else is there? Michelle? haha

He ruled out everyone who was running for the candidacy early on, well it was either everyone or the last bunch, I can't remember. Either way he did effectively say he wasn't taking either Hillary or Edwards as VP.

Ruby, i wonder if any normal person was subjected to Fox News constantly they would be conditioned to have a really harsh right-wing outlook on life?

Ahmed, i remember everyone being so certain Howard would lose in 2004 and they underestimated him . . . some of my lefty friends cried when he won, they were so so certain it wouldnt happen

Comment by RubySoho

June 5th 2008 16:33
I was too angry to cry in 2004. I was never so ashamed of my country as i was when Howard won that election.

I don't know Morgan, I think you have to be predisposed to a certain way of thinking to buy that bullshit.

unless they get you when you are young.

Comment by Ahmed

June 5th 2008 16:52
I'm not emotional enough to cry over something like that *but* take a look at the rest of planet earth, there is no longer a 'coaltion of the willing' left and the reason for that is elections in every country have already happened, those governments have been long since been voted out.

The Only reason a warmongerer is still president in the US is because the elections are yet to happen over there.

I don't know whether Hillary will end up on the ticket or not...I guess it's wait and see time on that....I can understand how you all in Australia felt when Howard won. I very much was there in 2000 when the coup that put Bush into the White House happened. It was less in 2004, but I still felt it. As to what SL said about McCain having a big well of support because of his military service....I will call that what it is, a lie. The undercurrent of support that is hard to measure will vote McCain because of fear, racism, and self-righteous self-gratification. That ugly underbelly of conservative support will vote for all of the ugly reasons. I'm not saying everyone voting for McCain is in that group - don't get me wrong. But a hell of alot of them are.

June 6th 2008 08:20
hey Jeff,
to be fair i was paraphrasing the overall conversation

S.L. actually said:
in case you hadn't heard, John McCain has two sons in the military. One in Iraq. Pres. Bush would have gone to Viet Nam if he'd been sent there. At least he didn't lead protests abroad like Clinton did! He wore the uniform and flew a jet.
Really Long Link

in the context of members of her own family being in the military and the value of patriotism etc
i was just interpretting those statements and pondering how influential a military background is for a politician in america

but im interested in your opinion . . . do you think that people who own guns and have family in the military would be more likely to give McCain default support?

Comment by Jeff Musall

June 7th 2008 05:21
Well Morgan, I can only offer myself as an example...I own two guns, and I spent 4 years in the Navy....and I would rather chew my arm off then vote for McCain...

Comment by Morgan Bell

June 7th 2008 07:12
hahaha well Jeff that was an excellent example!
i guess there may not be as much correlation as i originally thought?
glad to see some people can remain rational despite being surrounded by bad influences, there is hope for us all!
